The West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) built it and it opened in 2017. It was built to be the hub for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) tourism in the city. It is located at a distance of 10 km from the Netaji Subhash Bose International Airport (Kolkata Airport). It is owned and operated by the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, a West Bengal government undertaking.
An amazing architectural work of art with auditoriums that are magnificent and spacious. This Convention Centre is large enough to accommodate a good number of people. It has a 3000-seater Main Convention Hall, two 400-seater Mini Auditoriums, and four Banquet Cum Exhibition Halls with seating capacities of 270, 160, 125 and 72 respectively. It has a total plot size of 40,470 square metres and a total built-up area of 56,932.34 square metres.
The prestigious Indian International Science Festival 2019 was held there, and it was attended by dignitaries, delegates, students, and the media. The convention center was even used for the COVID-19 vaccination drive. Near the convention center lies the Biswa Bangla Gate, an arch-monument that is even a hanging restaurant.
