HISTORY OF THE CALCUTTA HOMOEOPATHIC MEDICAL COLLEGE & HOSPITAL
On 16th of February 1881 under the auspices of Late Dr. Mohini Mohan Basu and with the immeasurable zeal not only was an institute, The Calcutta Homoeopathic medical College & Hospital started, but a beacon of fire was ignited to fastidiously serve humanity with its genteel power and the legacy continued with contribution of Late Dr. P. C. Majumdar, Late Dr. D. N. Roy, Dr. C S Kali, Late Dr. J. N. Majumder, Late Dr. D. D. Mitra, Late Dr. G. N. Sinha, Late Dr. B. K. Bose, Late Dr. S. R. Chatterjee, Late Dr. R. G. Ghoshal, Late Dr. P. C. Paul, etc. Not only is it the oldest surviving Homoeopathic Institution in the world, but also a living proof thatHomoeopathy has not been uprooted for 142 years in the world. Aude Sapere survives in the queues that show increasing outpatient numbers, throbs in the glittering alumni, sparkles in the exemplary academic excellence every year and is taught in each classroom where students seek to serve humanity with Homoeopathy alone.
This Institute founded in the ground of sincerity and nurtured by selfless dedication won the appreciation and laurels by several important personalities from Honorable Ex Governors to many esteemed Ex Health Ministers etc. who visited the Institute from time to time. The Calcutta Homoeopathic Medical College continued its victorious journey and produced brilliant students like Padmashri Late Dr K.G Saxena, Late Dr Jugal Kishore, Late Dr Bhola Nath Chakroborty, Late Dr Ramkrishna Ghosh Mondal, Late Dr D P Rastogi, Late Dr Mahendra Singh, Late Dr S K Dubey, Late Dr R P Patel etc legendary personalities of Homoeopathy who became the pioneers of Homoeopathy in their own accord.
It has been an honour for the UG and PG students to be a part of it that has been heralded as State Model Homoeopathic Institution since the year 2005, as well as moved to newer zeniths with regard to starting of the post graduation studies in Practice of Medicine in a fully newly refurbished infrastructure.
OTHER CHIEF ASSOCIATIONS
In this venture the association of other two PG Colleges, D N De and Mahesh Bhattacharyya Homoeopathic medical College will strengthen the organizers to make the seminar most successful one. Another State Government College (UG), Midnapore Homoeopathic Medical College will also remain with the team. The good wishes and association of all other state government aided private colleges, namely Metropolitan, PCM, NCC, Burdwan, Kharagpur, Bengal(Asansole), Birbhum Homoeopathic Medical Colleges will prove the united strength of Homoeopathy in Bengal through the successful accomplishment of this seminar.
We are fortunate enough to remain associate in technical collaboration with few prestigious institutes and organizations of Homoeopathic profession of national as well as of international repute, namely, National Institute of Homoeopathy(NIH), National Commission for Homoeopathy(NCH) & Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy(CCRH). We are assured that the quality of the academic, research and other sessions will reach to its excellence through these technical collaborations.
Let’s be together to be Enriched, Enlighten & Exposed in the newer fields of Homoeopathic Medical Science. We have been striving, along with all PG scholars, faculties, alumni, students, all the staff members of CHMCH and ALL other associates with their HRs and skills to ensure that this institute is one that has withstood the test of times, and is now brightened to light up the path ahead and reach the horizon that beckons ahead. Our humblest of respect and the pride untold to stand as a witness and serve as a hand to reconstruct the past, constitute the present and herald to a glorious future!
